The following Terms and Conditions apply to the use of this Web site as well as all transactions conducted through the site.

  • Use Of Site

  • We ship to northern climates in mid-July to mid-August. Oklahoma and Texas ship mid-August to mid-September. Each order is hand dug, trimmed, tagged, washed, and shipped within two days usually by U.S. Postal Service.  We do not ship irises before July 1.

    If you will be out of town during that time, please note a specific shipping date during checkout. Each order is hand dug, trimmed, tagged, and shipped within two days by U.S. Mail, FedEx or UPS. Shipping Charges are as follows: 1-15 Irises - $15.00 15-30 Irises - $20.00 31 or More Irises – Please call or email for a shipping quotation.

    Bearded irises are live plants (not dried bulbs). PLANT THEM IMMEDIATELY. They need to be in the ground at least six to eight weeks prior to the first killing frost in your area. They need well-drained soil, neutral pH, and at least 6 hours of sun per day. Instructions are included in each shipment. When each new plant is in the ground, remove the stapled name tag and insert it in the soil in front of the iris. Do not water iris excessively, particularly in very hot climates. Normal rainfall is usually adequate for bearded irises.

    THE FASTEST WAY TO KILL A BEARDED IRIS IS TOO MUCH WATERING. Do not put irises in the refrigerator and do not leave them out of the ground over two weeks. Likewise, Bearded irises are not suitable for semi-tropical or warm coastal zones like central and southern Florida and Southern Texas near the Gulf Coast as they require a definite winter season. If a variety you order is sold out, we will contact you to discuss a substitution of a similar iris. Argyle Acres is a state licensed and inspected nursery.

    We guarantee all plants to be healthy and true to name as registered with the American Iris Society. If there is a problem, let us know immediately. After seven days, we will no longer take responsibility for your plants due to environmental and planting variables.
